5 out of 5 stars PERFECT COFFEEMAKER   November 11, 2008
B. Mauney
I had never owned a grind & brew before, but this is a great little package. Simple to operate once you get the steps down- easy to follow directions. Brews the best cup of coffee- piping hot and great taste. I use for small quantities during the week and 5-10 pots for the homeless on Sundays...either way the quality is consistent. I HIGHLY recommend this coffeemaker!

1 out of 5 stars Don't buy this coffee maker - it is poorly designed junk   November 7, 2008
B. G. Dickstein
I purchased a Krups KM7000 coffe maker and within the first 3 months the heater went out. It took an additional 3 month to get Krups to replace it as it couldn't be repaired. The new coffee maker they sent was difective as the clock didn't work. Another month and they sent a second replacement which was fine for 3 months and the heater went out. I am currently awaiting their evaluation and replacement.Krups KM7000 Grind-and-Brew 10-Cup Coffeemaker, Black

5 out of 5 stars You cannot get fresher coffee than this!   October 30, 2008
Casey E. Sloan (Charleston, SC)
I work in a bakery and run our coffee bar as well. I know how important a hot, fresh cup of java means to a coffee connoisseur. This is the best coffee maker I have gotten my hands on. Not only can one adjust the grind, the strength can be set too. Plus it can be programmed to grind and brew when ever you choose. The instructions are easy to follow and the bean compartment holds enough that the beans will stay fresh. I prefer regular, but if you have guests that drink decaf, the machine does not need to grind to brew, I have measured pre-ground beans and brewed as well.

1 out of 5 stars Grinder broke within 4 months   October 27, 2008

I bought this coffeemaker in June '08 and the grinder broke in early October '08. We only made one pot of coffee each day, which I don't consider excessive. Now I have to pay to ship the coffeemaker to the repair center for warranty service.

5 out of 5 stars Good Coffee - Good Value   October 26, 2008
coffeepot reviewer (Texas)
I was skeptical of the grinder contraption at first, but it has worked flawlessly since we purchased ours in March 2008 (6 months ago). Makes excellent coffee. I highly recommend a burr-grinder, which the Krups KM7000 has, which allows the bean to be ground once only, with the grinds falling straight through to the filter, rather than the more-common blender-grinder, which regrinds and causes inconsistent particle size, from powder to chunks. The only improvement I would want is to brew directly into a thermal carafe. I now transfer the coffee immediately after brewing into a separate thermal carafe, otherwise the super-hot hotplate quickly ruins the taste of coffee left sitting in the glass pot. For me, one great feature is the small cleaning requirement. The beans are loaded into a top container, then a portion are gravity-fed down through the grinder, once-through-ground, and then the grinds travel through a passageway directly into the filter. So there is no ongoing mess like there is with having a separate grinder, then spooning or pouring grinds into a filter basket on a separate coffeemaker. Note some small volume of grinds remain in the passageway at the end of each coffeemaking session, which are then pushed out first the next session. This bothered me when I first observed it, thinking the whole point of grinding fresh is to have completely fresh-ground beans, which this machine does not 100% achieve. However, after saying that, this pot still makes the best, most consistent cup of coffee I have ever been able to brew at home. We do use the pot at least daily. Another point: we use unflavored beans. If you wanted to change flavors of beans from pot to pot, I would think this machine would not be very convenient, because of the bean storage container and residual grinds in the passageway. For the price, for our six months of at least daily use, this has been an excellent grinder-brewer combo.
