Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The history of Douwe Egberts starts in 1753 when a husband and wife opened The White Ox, a gourmet shop in the North of Holland. Their offerings focused on coffee, tea and tobacco, products that were imported from the Far East and traded in Amsterdam. Sales grew rapidly and soon Douwe Egberts started a wholesaling and distribution business. They built their first coffee roasting plant in 1919 and began exporting their premium quality coffee in 1930. By 1960, Douwe Egberts accounted for more than half of Dutch coffee exports. Available in three varieties - Dark Roast, Medium Roast, and Decaffeinated - we have found no other coffee that can match the heady power and richness of these blends.

5 out of 5 stars Great coffee overpriced   May 12, 2008

The coffee is superb but you would better off doing a google search to find another supplier as the cost is WAY off mark and too high! Try HollandShop in Canada instead.

5 out of 5 stars Good stuff!   March 7, 2008

This coffee is terrific! I'm not sure I would make a habit of ordering it via the web and paying the high shipping fees to get it, but if someone gives you an Amazon gift certificate, I highly recommend it. It's up there on my list with all the Seattle's Best Coffee flavors, perhaps a little milder or less acidic in taste than SBC. The other reviewers are right - if you aren't in the habit of drinking black coffee, Douwe Egberts might help you make the switch.

1 out of 5 stars the coffee is wonderful but igourmet's price is CRAZY   April 25, 2007

Douwe Egberts coffee is AMAZING. After living in Holland for 2 years, I can't drink any other. But do not buy it from this seller. The shipping and handling charge as well as the charge for the coffee are just plain RIDICULOUS. You get a tiny little package (250 gm or about 1/2 a pound) for this price and you'll be charged nearly twice that amount just for shipping. Go to a Dutch-American website and buy it instead. There are plenty of websites with FAIR prices for 500gm with decent shipping. Of course this coffee costs more, it's imported. But igourmet is ripping you off!

5 out of 5 stars The Best Coffee!!!   March 16, 2005

I first tasted this coffee while on missionary appointment in Africa. A French run supermarket in Togo had this coffee and I tried it. It is the best I have ever tasted in the world and now I can only drink Douwe-Egberts brand. Their Senseo maching is also a great investment for coffee lovers!!!! ENJOY!!
