| Customer Reviews:
A great coffee that you can feel good about! September 6, 2008 bookreader (Marina, CA USA) I must say for the price of the coffee I was a bit nervous about what I might receive, but all I can say is that I am very pleased. I would compare the flavor to a Maragoya, but a little lighter. It is a light roast so the flavor makes for an exceptional pairing to a simple breakfast of a croissant or other light bread, the flavor is by no means intense but it is there. As for the acidic nature of the coffee I would place it is on par with most coffee house light blends and a below a Italian roast. Overall a good coffee and if you do not like it, the tins are nice enough to make a present of or as a donatation to the church for after service coffee.
great buy November 25, 2007 L. Christensen (Texas, USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have tried more than one of Altura's coffees. This one is a very satisfying standard French Roast. The only thing lacking in Altura's coffees is the aroma of the actual cup of brew.I bought this one to use at the office because it comes pre-ground in a handy can. And Organic always gets my attention first! Great bargain.
Pretty good...for canned coffee October 24, 2007 A reviewer 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I enjoy dark, strong coffee and usually buy whole beans. Amazon had a special offer on this brand, and I didn't see any whole bean coffee available (missed the link to "all" eligible items). The price per pound tempted me, though. I did a little quick research, reading that canned coffee can actually stay fresh longer than bagged. So although I haven't bought coffee in a can in about 20 years, I decided to give it a try. I'll bet this would be pretty good coffee for a drip coffee maker--it's definitely better than supermarket varieties. But for cappuccino, the grind is a little too coarse, and it doesn't taste nearly as good as freshly ground beans. I didn't care for it straight, so I mix it together with my favorite brew, and then it tastes just fine. I do like the fact that Cafe Altura deals in organic & Fair Trade beans. I think that canned coffee is simply not for me--and in fairness, this is about the best I've tasted. Next time, I'll stick to whole beans.
Well roasted... October 20, 2007 B. Hecht 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Unlike the reviewer below, my order arrived quickly. Regardless... Using a typical automatic drip coffee maker - this coffee has excellent color, flavor and aroma. This is a very nice heavily-roasted coffee. It is nothing like its bland cousins you find on the grocery store shelves. Although I no longer take the time to grind coffee beans, this has a very distinct 'just ground' flavor. This reminds me of the kind I would get at a little bistro near my home. Absolutely delicious. It is not 'THE BEST' coffee I have ever had but it is definitely one of the top contenders. I would order this again.
