Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The history of Douwe Egberts starts in 1753 when a husband and wife opened The White Ox, a gourmet shop in the North of Holland. Their offerings focused on coffee, tea and tobacco, products that were imported from the Far East and traded in Amsterdam. Sales grew rapidly and soon Douwe Egberts started a wholesaling and distribution business. They built their first coffee roasting plant in 1919 and began exporting their premium quality coffee in 1930. By 1960, Douwe Egberts accounted for more than half of Dutch coffee exports. Available in three varieties - Dark Roast, Medium Roast, and Decaffeinated - we have found no other coffee that can match the heady power and richness of these blends.

5 out of 5 stars delicious coffee   May 12, 2007
Joan Freer (West Hurley, N.Y.)
I had this coffee at a restaurant in Lancaster, Pa. and came home and ordered it because it was so good. It's definitely a treat, and I don't make it everyday because of the cost, but is sure is good.

5 out of 5 stars Smooth as Silk   February 18, 2007
Aurorer in S.C. (S. C.)
I was introduced to this coffee at a buffet in Mississippi. Went back the second time just to get another cup. I liked it so much I asked the waiter what kind of coffee I had and he spelled the name out for me to write down. When I told him it was the best coffee I'd ever had, he indicated that several people had told him the same thing. I promptly "googled" the name D.E. when I got home, found a site that sold it and ordered two bags. I won't drink anything else after the smooth, full flavored taste of D.E. Love, love, love it!!!!

5 out of 5 stars A Very Pleased Coffee Drinker   May 24, 2005

I discovered this outstanding coffee in a Southern California hospital cafeteria flowing right out of their giant urn! This coffee is so flavorful and satisfying that I'll often head down to that same hospital's cafeteria for a cup if I'm in the area. I also enjoy walking past the same facilitie's Starbuck's Coffee cart, positioned directly outside the cafeteria entry, because I feel like I've got a secret the Starbuck's drinker's will never know. The regular and decaf are equally outstanding in both aroma and flavor and I was pleased to find it sold here on Amazon.

5 out of 5 stars THE best coffee   April 23, 2004

I discovered this coffee in a restaurant in Chicago
later to find it on shelves in a British grocery store.
This is hands down the best coffee ever. I beg everyone i know who visits England to bring DE back. It is rich yet doesn't make you feel like you've just have an atomic blast of caffeine. I'm drooling now just thinking about ordering some.
